Introduction by Einar and Jamex De La Torre

John -nicknamed ‘sleepy’- took a class with us at Haystack School of Crafts, in 2001 and we quickly noticed his indomitable wit and acerbic personality.  Making street-smart statements with blown up toys from his infancy.

He is a rebel.  His work does not pander to the delicious beauty that blown glass has so intrinsically built-in.  John tackles political issues with raw energy and yet manages to retain certain clarity in the delivery.

Sleepy is a Philly Cheesesteak, huge, intimidating to look at but perversely satisfying, ...unabashedly caloric.

Leaving one with socio-commentary heartburn.
