London Glassblowing is delighted to announce a live demonstration by Netflix’s Blown Away Season 3 winner, John Moran. Moran will be creating a piece from his signature Bear Essentials series, which will be taking place at our Bermondsey Street gallery on 13 May, alongside a small showcase of his work.

This will provide rare insight into his incredible technical skill and the physical and conceptual processes involved. John Moran is a politically and socially engaged hot glass sculptor and mixed media artist, best known for his success on Netflix’s Blown Away Season 3. Originally from Philadelphia, Moran currently resides in Ghent, Belgium and works out of Ghent Glas, a community glass studio he co-founded in 2014.

Moran’s work, inspired by his interest in politics, pop culture, and contemporary art, aims to challenge and critically examine topical social issues. This iconic Bear Essentials series is no exception. Representative of childhood nostalgia and forgotten memories, this collection arouses a sense of loss and former innocence, often evoking great emotion in his viewers. Moran has suggested that the making of this series is a highly cathartic process and one that holds great sentiment for him.
